A "TWITCHING palm spanking paddle" may not be the most traditional stocking filler but it's set to sell out in Australia this Christmas thanks to the enormous popularity of erotic fiction series, Fifty Shades of Grey.

Within days of the official 50 Shades Pleasure Collection being launched in Australia this week, more than 70% of stock was sold out.

Sex industry expert and Love Group Director Ron Godwin believes the revival of "mummy porn" has sparked a sexual revolution and breathed new life into the nation's adult entertainment industry.

Author EL James helped design the kinky collection which includes items used by lead character Christian Grey in his "s&m" themed "red room".

Top sellers include the "sweet sting riding crop", "hard limits bed restraint kit" and "drive me crazy glass massage wand".

James, who has now sold more books than Harry Potter author JK Rowling, is adamant the sexual adventures explored within the Fifty Shades series and the items in the collection have all been "road tested".

Speaking to reporters this week she said she was still amazed by the Fifty Shades phenomenon and believed the reaction was proof "women like sex done well".

"We are fundamentally all the same - all over the world," she said

"Men are reading it getting tips...it brings women together."

If Christian Grey was a real person, James believes his favourite stocking filler would be a riding crop.

Her personal favourites are the "gorgeous" nipple clamps and Ben Wa balls which feature heavily in the books.

She also had a message for all her fans... "I would just like to say thank you so much for coming".
