I've had enough of un-merry shoppers

Nicholas Falconer

I AM not returning to the shops until the festive season has ended.

I'm appalled at the behaviour of motorists and shoppers.

I understand people are stressed over getting their Christmas shopping finished - but seriously - have some manners and be patient.

I never imagined going to print one photograph for my boyfriend's Christmas present would be such an ordeal.

I decided to brave the pre-Christmas rush, to finish my last bit of Christmas shopping this afternoon, and I was horrified at what I saw.

All car park and driving etiquette and kindness has gone out the window and been replaced with selfishness and rudeness.

I was confronted with people parking each other in, swearing and yelling out the windows at fellow motorists and cutting people off to snag the scarce  parks available in all shopping centres.

I'm not afraid to occasionally beep the horn at somebody doing something stupid or rude, nor am I opposed to sticking the rude finger up on occasion to show I am angry at someone's behaviour, but I would never behave in this manner, and especially not at this time of year.

Christmas is meant to be a positive and happy time, filled with time with family and friends and my favorite thing, pressies.

But today, was completely un-Christmassy.

It was like the Grinch took over the bodies of motorists to make this a very un-Merry Christmas.
