THE majority of single Australians choose to ignore Valentine's Day, a survey has found.

Research conducted by dating website RSVP.com.au found 66% of 1200 single people did not pay attention to February 14.

"Rather than seizing the opportunity for new romance, our survey shows two in three singles actually choose to ignore the day when February 14 rolls around," RSVP Spokesperson Jayne Andrews said.

If you're seeking romance - you've go to put yourself out there and look for it.

"Valentine's Day is full of potential for singles - embrace it and take the opportunity to be courageous, approach someone new or suggest a date.

According to the survey, the second most popular way to spend Valentine's Day is to go out with friends or other singles, citied by 15% of respondents.
