VETERAN media personality Grant Goldman is the Tweed Australia Day ambassador for 2013.

The radio and TV star will be the guest of honour at a number of special Australia Day events throughout the shire.

Mr Goldman is a long serving radio announcer and television presenter whose claim to fame includes acting as the Voice of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Mr Goldman's first foray on television was as host of the popular show Countdown after which he did voiceovers for Channel Nine during the 80s and 90s.

He is currently the presenter of the breakfast show for Sydney radio station 2SM, is the voice of Sky Channel and acts as the official announcer at all of Sydney's train stations.

Among Mr Goldman's achievements is his pioneering work for Australian television in the 60s when he presented Wheel of Fortune and the children's show It's a Small World.

As Tweed ambassador, Mr Goldman's first duty will be presenting a keynote speech at Tweed Shire's official Australia Day ceremony at Tumbulgum Hall at 11am after which he will present the official Australia Day Awards to the shire's outstanding achievers and exceptional contributors to the community.
