NATIONAL Party hopeful for the seat of Page Kevin Hogan says if elected, he will raise a "Green Army" to tackle environmental projects.

"We will tackle environmental issues head on with a 15,000 strong Green Army which will enable teams to operate in nearly every community across the country," Mr Hogan said.

He said participants would receive a training wage and supervision and be divided into teams of ten people to work on projects in the Clarence Valley.

"We are asking the community to submit ideas for worthwhile projects," he said.

It may be cleaning up a local creek, restoring a bushwalking path, establishing a boardwalk or planting mangroves, for example.

He said the projects are expected to take up to 25 weeks to complete and the "Green Army" would form a key part of the Coalition's environmental policy, if elected.

"The Green Army is part of the Coalition's environment policy to protect and enhance Australia's environment for future generations through direct action and engagement with our community."

He called on local environmental groups and councils to put forward projects they thought would be appropriate.
