POLICE guarded the scene of a house fire on the southern Gold Coast overnight.

Forensic police are today expected to examine the house on Eucalyptus Ave, Varsity Lakes.

A man, aged 48, and three boys, aged 6, 8 and 13, were inside the home at the time but managed to escape.

The older boy was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation at Robina Hospital, while the man was also treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire began about 8.30pm (Qld) and destroyed the home.
