PARRAMATTA has sacked Jamil Hopoate, the younger brother of 2011 Manly premiership player Will Hopoate, after a series of off-field incidents.

Jamil, 18, had his contract terminated after the Eels conducted an investigation into his behaviour at a rookie camp in Sydney on the weekend.

The talented back-rower left the camp despite being given specific instructions more than once not to do so.

He also did not attend scheduled formal presentations.

Jamil, the son of former Manly and West Tigers bad boy John Hopoate, recently had his driver's licence suspended for six months for mid-range drink-driving.

Eels chief executive Ken Edwards said the club was extremely disappointed to lose such a promising player.

"Unfortunately Jamil has failed to respond to on-going support, tutoring and mentoring," Edwards said.

"All who play for the Parramatta Eels need to understand that we are focused on and committed to recruiting players who put the team first."

Will Hopoate, presently on a two-year Mormon mission, has signed with the Eels from the 2014 season.
