FROM Lennox Head school-boy surfer to a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, Aussie actor Simon Baker continues to ride a huge wave of success.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced that the star of the hit TV series, The Mentalist, will be immortalised on Hollywood's Walk of Fame on February 14, Valentine's Day.
In typical tinsel-town hyperbole Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies producer Ana Martinez said: "Hearts will be pounding for Simon Baker as he unveils his star on this very special day. His star will be located next to the very romantic Beso Restaurant!"
The honour will be bestowed on the 42-year-old by good friend and godmother to one of his three children, fellow Aussie actor Naomi Watts, and Bruno Heller, executive producer of The Mentalist.
It will be the 2490th Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of television.
Baker was born in Tasmania but raised at Lennox Head where he attended Ballina High and Trinity Catholic College.
The keen surfer still names Lennox Point as his favourite break in the world.
He gets home as often as he can to catch up with family and friends with his Gold Coast-raised wife and fellow actor Rebecca Rigg.
In June 2011, Baker was at the Lennox Head versus Casino rugby union match at Williams Reserve in Lennox Head enjoying a few beers with his old school mates.
In 2010, the star reportedly snapped up a $1.5m historical homestead in Nashua.
Baker's portrayal of the charming and irreverent Patrick Jane in The Mentalist has earned him Golden Globe, Emmy and SAG nominations.
It's also seen him become the highest-paid drama star in the US, with a recently inked deal said to be worth $30 million.
Among the many movies he's appeared in are The Devil Wears Prada with Meryl Streep and LA Confidential.
Baker has dabbled in directing, including several episodes of The Mentalist.
Australian actors who have already secured real estate on Hollywood's Walk of Fame include:
- Nicole Kidman
- Hugh Jackman
- Cate Blanchett
