NOW HE'S MOBILE: Celebrity chef Manu Feildel recently bought a Renault Koloes.

CELEBRITY chef Manu Feildel returns in a new series of My Kitchen Rules on January 28 on Channel 7.

Along with his co-host Pete Evans, Feildel will visit the instant restaurants of a new crop of cooking wannabes as they try to impress him with their home-cooked creations.

We managed to track him down to talk about his motoring past and present.

What's your current drive?

(Until recently) I didn't have my driving licence. I drove motorbikes, never a car. I've just got a Renault because it's a French car. They're the best cars in the world. I got an SUV (Koleos, pictured right) because I want to be noticeable.

I can't drive well, so I need to be visible on the road. I'm turning 40 years old this year, so I think it's time.

I've got an eight-year-old boy and he pretty much needs to go to a lot of places.

During your childhood, what car did your family have?

We always had a crap car, to be honest with you. We didn't have any money. All I remember is the Renault 5, which probably doesn't exist any more. We also had a Ford Escort, which was red.

What was your first car and what happened to it?

I was always on two wheels. It's quicker and you can park it everywhere.

What is your dream car?

An Aston Martin.
