A MAN needs a shed, but so does a woman.
The men at Murwillumbah Men's Shed are well aware of the fact and have decided to open the shed to women on Tuesdays.
"Lots of women have expressed interest in having their own space," shed secretary Michael Newell said.
A garage sale is also on the cards at the shed in Duroon Ave, Bray Park on Saturday, March 16.
A vast array of tools and gadgets will be on sale, with proceeds going towards the development of metal-working shed.
"We've had so many wonderful donations," Mr Newell said.
"But if we can't use all of them, then selling them can give us the means to do more at the shed."
. The board of management will be searching out potential grants and donations of services and materials and a DA for the shed extension will be needed before work can commence.
But with wood-working lathes, band saws, drop saws and a huge array of hand tools, the garage sale should prove to be a money spinner.
The shed is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at present.
Music also has a place on the agenda, with a regular jam session on Thursdays.
Women are welcome to join the shed, but will need to be inducted to use the tools and machinery.
