AMERICAN metal gods Metallica will headline the 2013 Soundwave music festival.

The headliners were unveiled this morning along with 50 other acts including Linkin Park, Anthrax, Garbage, Paramore, A Perfect Circle, Flogging Molly and Sum 41.

Reunited punk rockers Blink 182, The Offspring, Of Mice and Men, Cancer Bats and Stone Sour have already been confirmed for the 2013 line-up in recent weeks.

Soundwave boss AJ Maddah is clearly confident in the line-up, reportedly tweeted last night that he would be amazed if the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne shows "did not sell out instantly".

Tickets for the 2013 festival will be $187 and inclusive of all fees and postage.

The Sydney and Perth shows will include a $2 levy for transport.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale on Wednesday, August 15, and there will be a four-ticket maximum per person.

General public tickets go on sale on Thursday, August 23.

Soundwave plays Brisbane on February 23, Sydney on February 24, Melbourne on March 1, Adelaide on March 2 and Perth on March 4.
