Morgan opens a can-can of snakes

MORGAN Kenny is forging her own water-based career at the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris.

The can-can dancer, who celebrated her 21st birthday on the Champs-Elysees, has dazzled the Parisian cabaret show since April last year and signed a new contract until October.

The daughter of Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny also has landed the role of 'swimming with the snakes' - one of the Moulin Rouge's infamous sideshows - starting in August.

"I did a couple of rehearsals with the snakes a while ago. Surprisingly I wasn't very scared," she said.

"They're very calm, they're not aggressive and they're used to it. They do it every night. They're used to being in the pool with the girls."

Morgan returned home on Tuesday for a two-week family visit.

"It's very nice to be home. It's amazing how much you don't think you'll miss it until you leave and it's a really beautiful place to come back to," she said.

"Being away from the Sunshine Coast for so long, I come back and it's a breath of fresh air. It just feels good to be home."

Despite her occasional bout of homesickness, Morgan has fallen in love with her new life in Paris.

"It's been the most incredible experience, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," she said.

"It's been mind-blowing being part of the history that's over there, being part of the most famous cabaret show in the world. It's truly amazing."

Morgan performs two shows a night, six nights a week.

"It's exhausting, it can be very tiring and hard on the body, late nights as well," she said.

With little down time, Morgan has not had the chance to explore neighbouring countries.

"I have time off in September when I do plan on going to Italy and Germany so I'll get a little bit of travelling in before I go home," she said.

At the end of her contract, Morgan will return home just in time for her 22nd birthday and plan her next move.

"I'm really interested in working at Disneyland so I'll keep an eye out for a couple of auditions maybe next year," she said.
