Nippers haul in gold at junior teams meet

BYRON Bay used its home beach advantage winning plenty of gold at the Far North Coast Junior Surf Lifesavers' annual teams carnival at Main Beach on Sunday.

More than 500 nippers, including 65 from Palm Beach in Queensland, competed in a variety of events including board relays, Cameron relays, sprint relays, swim teams and board rescue.

Byron Bay's Jahvi Woodhouse-Murray won gold in the surf event. McMullen, and Darcie Balcon also won gold in the R and R.

Other gold medals went to Aidan Neighbour and Gabe Taylor.

Other great races throughout the day resulting in gold to Byron Bay included the 14 years board relay of Jai Timperley, Caitlin Callahan and Tom Rowley.

The under-12 board relay of Jahvi Woodhouse-Murray, Moby McMullen and Curtis Cloake also took out first spot. And the U10 board relay with Alby Kay, Beau Carter and Diesel Drury took gold.

The U10 swim team of Meeka Campbell, Alby Kay, Beau Carter and Grace Eady won gold as did the U8 wade relay team of Leilani Carter, Tilly Peacock, Lola Eady and Raife McKenzie.
