POLICE have renewed an appeal for assistance as investigations continue into the death of a man in South Murwillumbah in June.

Just after 5am on Friday June 13, emergency services were called to a Quarry Rd home, where they found the body of 46-year-old Michael Martin.

Mr Martin suffered extensive injuries.

His 25-year-old son was injured inside the home when emergency services arrives.

He told the police he was woken by a man threatening him, before he was tied up and assaulted.

He was treated at the home for a head injury.

Strike Force Areae was formed by Tweed-Byron LAC detectives and the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad to investigate Mr Martin's death.

Detectives have renewed their appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information that could assist the investigation, to come forward.

In particular, police would like to speak with anyone who saw a woman at the home or in Quarry Road at the time of the incident.

It's believed the woman had been seen in the area in the months prior to the assault and could assist police with inquiries.

She is described as being aged in her early to mid 20s, tall and has short blonde hair.

Inquiries are continuing.
