A BRAZEN robber shared his work with staff, the store owner and police when he was caught on CCTV emptying a till at Hungry Jacks in Tweed Heads last Friday night.

Store owner Matthew Fraser said staff were cleaning and preparing to close the Wharf St store late last Friday evening when an alarm directed their attention to a register.

Before staff could react and attempt to foil the robbery, a disguised man had reached into the till and emptied it of its contents.

The offender did his utmost to disguise his identity and wore a hooded jumper, sunglasses and gloves.

Mr Fraser said the robber was able to open the till within minutes.

"The offender must have known how to open the register.

"The procedure isn't obvious and only prior knowledge would have allowed the offender to get the cash," Mr Fraser said.

Mr Fraser said the police was called immediately and responded to the call within minutes.

As coalition candidate Mr Fraser recently advocated the installation of a CCTC system to cover the streets of Tweed Heads, similar to the system which has operated successfully in Murwillumbah.

"A CCTV system wouldn't have stopped this robbery but might have captured the offender getting in a car or pick up any other relevant details," Mr Fraser said.

If you have information that may help police to find the robber, contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
