Stella show sizzles despite dad's tardiness

FAMILY members can be known for causing the occasional event hold-up but when your father is Sir Paul McCartney, you might afford him half an hour's grace if he is running late for your latest fashion show.

And so she did as it transpired this week in Paris, as Stella McCartney's rock 'n' roll dad held up proceedings for her fall/winter 2013/14 collection show.

The event saw fellow R&R royalty like Bono and Marianne Faithfull join Hollywood fashionistas Jessica Alba and Nicole Richie in the waiting game, front row of course.

Despite the slow start, the collection was soon the centre of attention, with over-sized masculine shapes leading the charge.

Big sculptured coats, pinstripes and huge lapels that hark back to the 80s were blended with flowing, flouncy pieces resulting in a range that seemed to cross from x to y chromosomes and back again.

While some pieces looked extremely comfortable with their generous proportions you can't help but think you still have to resemble stick insect to wear them with any confidence.
