SHE auditioned for a television show on a whim but could Mermaid Beach teenager Amanda Ware be destined to be Australia’s Next Top Model?
At the moment, she’s not telling!
Amanda, 17, is one of 16 finalists including fellow Gold Coaster Kimberly, 20, in series six of the popular reality show, currently airing at 7.30pm, Tuesdays, on PayTV channel Fox8.
And while she, the other hopefuls and the viewing public won’t find out the result until the live finale later in the year, the show has already changed Amanda’s life.
“I think I just entered on a whim but it’s the best decision I have ever-made,” the budding model admitted this week.
“It has really opened my mind (to the world of modelling).
“I actually hadn’t watched the show before I auditioned but since then I’ve watched them. My mum saw (the call for auditions) in the paper or on TV or something.”
With Amanda finishing Year 12 at Miami High School last year, she was free to pursue her opportunities.
Chosen from thousands of hopefuls Australia-wide, the 16 finalists are, according to the show’s publicity, “transformed from attractive girls-next-door into potential working models, while navigating their way through various modelling assignments and tasks”.
And while the preliminary episodes have been shot, the finale will be filmed and aired in September – and until then Amanda (and fellow Gold Coaster Kimberly) have been sworn to secrecy.
They can’t even tell their friends and family.
