Male Support Worker required for two day shifts a week ongoing for young disabled man with Autism in the suburb of Currumbin Waters. Client has their own residence and a dedicated team who has worked with him for 10+ years. Looking for a further team member committed to providing the best care for him.
Care is provided throughout the week, Monday to Friday and client attends his parents most weekends. Day shifts generally are 8-3 but can be flexible.
Days currently required to be filled are Thursday and Friday day shifts. This may be flexible to suit the right applicant. At least 14 hours guaranteed a week. Extra shifts including night shifts and weekend work often available.
Seeking Support worker with either a Certificate in Disability or experience in allied health or security/behavioural support fields. Position would also suit university students studying in such fields as flexibility also exists within the role.
Will need their own ABN, drivers licence (though client has own car so will not need to utilise yours for work) and some experience with intellectual disability or behaviour management. Knowledge of Autism beneficial but not a prerequisite. Knowledge of following Epilepsy, medication plans and clients routine will be provided with thorough on the job training to ensure support worker feels comfortable with understanding of their role.
Client enjoys a robust routine and one on one interaction. Prefers to avoid crowds as it can be a source of anxiety and likes activities such as walks on the beach, bushwalking and long drives. Enjoys movies at home and playing in his big back yard. Client likes the company of caring, happy, calm people.
