PROPOSAL TO UPGRADE MOBILE PHONE BASE STATION

LOCATED AT SURFERS PARADISE

 

Telstra plans to upgrade an existing telecommunications facility located at

70 Remembrance Drive, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217

  1. Telstra are currently upgrading existing mobile network facilities to allow for the introduction of 5G to Telstra’s network. As part of this network upgrade, Telstra proposes the installation of NR3500 technology at Surfers Paradise. Proposed works at the above site will involve the removal of six (6) panel antennas, nine (9) remote radio units (RRUs) and the installation of six (6) new panel antennas (each no more than 2.8m in length), three (3) new 5G AIR antennas and associated ancillary equipment. All internal equipment will be housed within the existing equipment shelter located at the base of the facility.
  2. Telstra regards the proposed installation as a Low-impact Facility under the Telecommunications (Low-impact Facilities) Determination 2018 ("The Determination") based on the above description.
