Forsyth longevity found by meeting needs Forsyth Motors has seen out the ups and the downs of the agricultural industry by changing strategies and continually meeting the needs of their customers. Drew and Christine Forsyth along with Drew’s parents Jim and Pat Forsyth started Forsyth Motors on September 15, 1955. Jim Forsyth, an A grade mechanic, had worked in mechanical trade for many years before deciding to branch out on his own. The business was originally established in the old fire station on the corner of Kelvin Street, before moving to the original building on the current Foodworks site in 1956. The business was at a peak in 1972 at which time it moved to its current location to accommodate its 11 employees. Throughout the years Forsyth Motors has had a number of different arms which have includes the manufacturing, supply and service.

Forsyth Motors has manufactured a number of implements including the Forsyth Multi-seeder and also Forsyth Slasher as well as being a dealer for a number of ranges including cars, machinery, motorbikes and implements. “Now we have taken on selling Daedong a South Korean tractor for the past 9 years,” Mr Forsyth said. “We are rebuilding the operations side of the business – focusing on sales and follow up service. “We’ve got a good standard straight forward tractor that isn’t hard to service and the average farmer has some idea of what’s going on,” he said. Forsyth Motors is a business that has survived through years of changes in rural Australia and recognize the needs of today’s man on the land by offering a 7 day 24 hour a day service. “It’s very solid here locally and we have a good clientele tucked away in North West Queensland,” Mr Forsyth said.
