Gympie Music Muster campgrounds to get $100k upgrade
THE Gympie Music Muster camping grounds will have hundreds of thousands of dollars pushed into it to help with development and keep it up-to-date with legislation.
More than $100,000 will be invested into the Amamoor State Forest campground to replace its septic system.
But not before 110 camp sites were temporarily closed while the works were completed in the area which every year is used as the Gympie Muster site.
QPWS will spend $109,000 to upgrade the Amamoor Creek camping area sewage treatment plant.
The current sewerage system did not comply with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection legislative requirements.
The works will see a new waste system replace the previous septic and transpiration pit.
A QPWS representative said, to avoid closing the entire campground during works and inconveniencing the public, QPWS reduced the campground's capacity from 220 to 100 people.
They said full capacity would be restored to the site, which facilitates everything from horse riding to camping to Muster partying, when the works are completed about March.
