1167 employed in campaign

A TWEED recruiter managed to get more than two people into work a day during a 100-day recruitment campaign.

Nortec Employment and Training group ended its 1000 jobs in 100 days last week having passed the goal for a second year.

Nortec marketing co-ordinator Michelle Dowding said 1167 people found employment in the 100 days and 211 of those were at the Tweed office.

"We are very happy with the result. We were expecting it to be a struggle," Ms Dowding said.

"Community care and administration were the major contributors. Hospitality wasn't too strong but we expect that to pick up in December. Retail wasn't as strong as last year."

Nortec will donate $1000 to a charity of Byron Bay Cooking Company's choice after they won a raffle for employing staff during the campaign.
