A TRUCK has crashed off the Warrego Hwy today about 2.30, marking the 14th truck crash since May 20.

This time no one was killed, but in previous crashes over the past four weeks eight people have died.

Police say in today's incident the truck driver was heading east along the highway at Brassall (west of Brisbane in QLD) when he lost control, crossed a median strip and crashed into bushes.

  • Yesterday a man died after being hit by a truck on the Nambour Connection Rd at Woombye on the Sunshine Coast about 2.30am.
  • On June 7 a semi lost its load at Rifle Range near Lowood also in QLD at 5.32am, the male driver suffered no serious injuries and pulled himself from the truck.
  • Five days ago on June 4 a man and woman, both 57, from Jimboomba died on the Warrego Hwy after the van they were driving in was hit by a fuel tanker about 8am at Kholo in North Ipswich (west of Brisbane).

June 2: A truckie, 44 was taken to hospital with leg injuries after the truck he was driving down the Toowoomba range rolled over. The truck is believed to have experienced mechanical difficulties before losing control.

The truck then swerved across the road, hit a centre island and crossed back onto the road and continued out of control before hitting a power pole.

The truck then flipped onto its side, coming to a stop at the bottom of the range in the right hand lane.

June 1: Just before 2am, emergency services were called to the M1 southbound at Freemans Waterhole after a semi-trailer carrying treated pine slabs failed to negotiate a left hand bend and rolled, before catching alight.

The 59-year-old male driver was able to escape with minor injuries to his chest and was conveyed to John Hunter Hospital.

May 31: A B-Double overturned on the Bruce Highway on-ramp at North Lakes, killing Steven Brumpton at about 2.30am.

May 31: In Sydney one person was trapped for some time after a serious crash on the M5 motorway occured near Ingleburn involving a truck, a few cars and a ute.

May 31: A B-double travelling south on the Bruce Hwy ran off the road and overturned destroying a load of avocados. The crash happened about 2.15pm just north of Howard in Queensland.  The 50-year-old driver had minor injuries.

May 24:  The Calder Freeway near Milleara Rd in Victoria was closed following a horrific accident shortly after 8am involving a petrol tanker and up to 10 cars.

It's believed the truck was in the centre lane on the freeway when a car has pulled in front of it, causing the truck to swerve and the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The truck has then struck a number of other cars.

One car was crushed under the truck during the incident, killing one person and six others were taken to hospital.

May 23: A man died after the car he was travelling in and a road train crashed at the intersection of Germein Rd and the Augusta Hwy, Bungama, SA. The crash occurred just before 9pm.  Police later charged a woman who was also in the car with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

May 22: A 61-year-old truckie died in hospital after his tip truck flipped onto it's roof at a quarry at Plumpton north-west of Melbourne about 10.50am.

May 20: Jo-Ann Thwaites, 60, was killed after being struck by two trucks at the intersection of Old Pittwater Rd and Condamine St near Brookvale about 9am. Police allege that the first truck didn't stop. It is believed the second truck that was travelling close behind ran over Ms Thwaites and dragged her for about 600m. The second truck stopped as soon as the driver realised what had happened. The crash prompted police to raid the truck company twice.
