Sunshine Coast snake catcher Richie Gilbert said it was not uncommon for snakes to hide around structures like playgrounds, as they seek a safe, comfortable place to hide.

While he didn't know the type of snake which was responsible and didn't wish to speculate, Mr Gilbert said there were a number of species, including carpet pythons, tree snakes and Eastern browns, that were more common to that coastal area of the Coast.

"It could be a common-tree snake, which could be black, or a red-bellied black snake, but even Eastern browns can appear black," Mr Gilbert said.

He said the tree snake would be the most common species in and around the beach land, but if puncture marks were present, then it would indicate a tree snake was not responsible, given their bite patterns do not result in puncture marks.

NINE SNAKE BITES WITHIN 12 WEEKS:

The CareFlight Group has airlifted nine other snake bite victims in 12 weeks.

On December 22 a woman in her seventies was in her kitchen in Dulacca when she felt something run across her foot.

She looked down and saw a two metre brown snake which had bitten her on the foot.

On September 7, a young teenager riding a trail bike felt a stinging sensation on his leg and thought he saw a snake.

His father took him to hospital, where test results came back positive for a brown snake bite.

He was airlifted the boy from Millmerran Hospital to Toowoomba Base Hospital in a stable condition.

On October 9, a ten year old boy was airlifted from Warwick Hospital to the Mater Children's Hospital following a snake bite.

Just five days later, a 20 year old woman was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital after a suspected snake bite on Fraser Island.
