20-year-old faces court after using stolen car in pursuit

THE 20-year-old driver of a stolen vehicle will appear in Tweed Heads Court on Tuesday, after being involved in a police pursuit on Monday night.

About 11.30pm Monday, Tweed police attempted to stop the female driver, travelling northbound on the Pacific Hwy near Minjungbal Dr.

Police said the woman, travelling in a white Ford Falcon sedan, allegedly failed to stop.

A pursuit then took place on Panorama Dr, before the car collided with the front of a stationary police car.

Police said the woman then fled the scene in her vehicle, but a further pursuit did not take place.

After investigating the incident, police located the vehicle and arrested the 20-year-old driver at a park near Riviera Ave.

The woman was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, charged with police pursuit drive dangerously (Skye's Law), unlicensed driver, stolen motor vehicle, failed to exchange particulars of a collision and not keep left on the dividing line.

She was granted conditional bail.
