65-year-old dies at Cabarita Beach

A 65-YEAR-old man was unable to be revived after he got into trouble in the surf at Cabarita Beach today.

The man, from Coomera, was body surfing with a male cousin not far from the Cabarita Beach Surf Lifesaving Club when both men began to struggle about midday.

One of the men made it back to shore and ran into the surf club to get help.

When he returned with a club member, his cousin was on the shore and a passer-by had begun CPR.

Paramedics and surf lifesavers arrived at the scene soon after, where they took over trying to revive the man.

Their attempts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead about 1pm.
