80ml more rain expected for the weekend

THERE’S the potential for up to 80ml of more rain on the weekend as the Northern Rivers continues to count the cost of the flooding earlier this month.

The wet weather is likely to start on Saturday and get heavier on Sunday with between 40ml-80ml of rain predicted, said Weatherzone meteorologist Kim Westcott.

The Bureau of Meteorology could release warnings for heavy rain and potential flooding in the next couple of days, she said.

Given the wetness of the ground from the recent flooding event, it won’t take much more rain to cause more damage, she said.

She said it was a good idea for residents to keep a close eye on the weather outlook over the next few days and take necessary precautions around their home.
