11yo boy hit by car at South Grafton flown to Lismore

UPDATE, 11.30am: AN 11-year old boy has been airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital following a collision with a vehicle in South Grafton.

The South Grafton Primary School student attempted to cross the road at Vere St about 8.30am this morning when he collided with a white utility.

The child suffered multiple head injuries and broken teeth, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

He was stablised by paramedics, who then met the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter at the South Grafton airfield to transport him to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was released pending further investigation.

It was initially believed the boy was nine, but has now been confirmed he is 11.

 

 

8.45am: A NINE-YEAR-OLD school boy has been hit by a car on Vere St, South Grafton.

At about 8.30am today, the boy, in school uniform, was struck in a school zone.

It is believed the child has serious head injuries.

Emergency services are on scene now and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter has arrived to airlift the child to hospital.
