AFL turns to NASCAR for better score review system

CAMERA technology used in NASCAR racing will be trialed by goal umpires in Saturday's clash between Richmond and Carlton at the MCG as the AFL searches for a better score review system.

Goal umpires will wear a camera mounted on a headband, which will transmit high definition images back to a video umpire.

As well as the normal vision from the broadcaster, cameras will also be located above, behind and within the goalposts so that every angle can be checked.

The system will allow the video umpire to choose the best vision to make a more accurate decision.

The new technology will be tested across more games during rounds 22 and 23.
