Bennett's tutelage takes Gillett to next level
MASTER coach Wayne Bennett hasn't changed the way forward Matt Gillett plays, but the back-rower says the Broncos mentor has made him better at what he does.
It's a common thread with Bennett-coached players, who take their games to another level under his wise tutelage.
"He hasn't really changed too much, just simplified it," said Gillett, who has picked up his form heading into the finals with outstanding games against the Roosters and Cowboys in recent weeks.
Bennett has the ability to get inside his players' heads and find the key to getting the best out of them.
"He's a very honest manm and he knows what to say and what not to say to his players to get them motivated," Gillett said.
"A lot of the boys, myself included, were quite nervous when Wayne arrived, but he chats to us all and we've all learned so much from him.
"He can be complimentary, and also critical of your game at times which is a good thing because you want that honesty from your coach."
