Mother watches as her son is shot dead in front of her

A MAN was shot dead in front of his mother at his family home just hours before another house was sprayed with bullets in Sydney.

Bilal Taha, aged in his 30s, was hit with as many as five bullets as he stood on his front yard in south-western Sydney suburb Condell Park about 6pm on Sunday.

A neighbour reported a car pulled up and a gunman got out and shot Mr Taha before speeding away.

Mr Taha was treated at the scene and taken to hospital but died of his injuries.

A second shooting was reported at nearby Regents Park when a home was hit by a volley of bullets about 10pm. Police believed two men drove to the house and spoke to its occupants before firing bullets and driving away from the scene.

A woman in her 50s and a teenage girl were treated for shock. Police have not confirmed whether the shootings were linked.
