Mums enjoy special movie night

A MUMS' night out away from babies blossomed on Tuesday night at a preview screening of Eat, Pray, Love.

The Mothers Milk Bank October fundraiser, hosted in conjunction with Megan Waters from Serene Beauty, was sold out two weeks in advance with 250 attending the night at Birch Carrol and Coyle Coolangatta.

Mothers Milk Bank director Marea Ryan said the community support was terrific on the night.

“So many local businesses donated to the evening and I'm amazed at the support which came from word-of-mouth,” Ms Ryan said. “We had 100 people on the waiting list and a lot of people turned up hoping to get a seat, but we were full.

As well as a screening of the movie, a fashion parade and youth orchestra performance was held as part of the night.

Ms Ryan said $4000 was raised.

“We had a lot of raffles including signed Titans jerseys and paintings – it was an incredible night,” she said.

The next Mothers Milk Bank fundraiser, the MMB Masquerade Ball will be on October 23 at the Sheraton Mirage, Main Beach.
