Murwillumbah meet on track

IT'S all systems go for the Tweed River Jockey Club’s (TRJC) annual Melbourne Cup meeting tomorrow.

While the weekend rain may have made a few punters nervous about the staging of the six-race meet, TRJC secretary-manager Steve Huggins said the downpour had come at an ideal time.

“We’ve had a bit of rain these past few nights and it has done the track a lot of good, especially after last week’s meeting,” he said.

“The racing surface is in excellent condition and currently rated slow.

“We are expecting a big crowd on race day, with gates opening as scheduled at 10am.”

The first race at Murwillumbah jumps at 12.50pm.
