Snedeker keeps the Canadians out of their own golfing open

PAT Fletcher was the last Canadian player to win his country's open golf championship, way back in 1954.

American Brandt Snedeker ensured that drought continued yesterday, shooting a final round two-under par 70 to finish on 16-under, three shots clear of the field.

Snedeker said he was "ecstatic" to win for his long-time caddie, Canadian Scott Vail.
