Socceroos Coach says some positives came from coming last

SOCCEROOS coach Holger Osieck said plenty of positives came out of a largely disappointing East Asian Cup campaign after a 4-3 defeat to China saw the Aussies finish last.

Players such as Mitchell Duke, Tomi Juric and Aaron Mooy all stood out in the three games, Osieck saying: "I think it was a very good experience for all of us to see where they stand and how much work is left for them."

Mooy scored Australia's first before China went 4-1 up. Late goals to Adam Taggart and Duke set up an exciting last few minutes.

Japan won the trophy for the time after beating South Korea 2-1.
