State's first 'Small Business Week' announced for July 24

THE state government has dedicated a week in July exclusively to the Queensland small business sector, to highlight its importance and provide opportunities for growth.

Small Business Minister Jann Stuckey said the first Queensland Small Business Week will run from July 24 to 31.

"It is a fantastic opportunity to promote the significant contribution the sector makes to job creation, local economies and the communities they sustain," Ms Stuckey said.

"The Newman Government has a clear plan to grow small business and we are following through to create an environment where government 'gets out of the way' so business can prosper.

"A range of activities and events will be on offer to help people start, grow or succeed in business.

"July 27 will become Buy Locally Saturday which expands on the Think Queensland, Buy Locally campaign to encourage consumers to choose local products and services.

"Buy Locally Saturday also highlights the vital role the sector plays in building local economies and communities and I urge people across the state to show their support."

Premier Campbell Newman and Minister Stuckey will attend the Council of Small Business of Australia National Small Business Summit in Brisbane on July 24 and 25.

There will be a live-streamed small business panel discussion on high growth start-ups on July 26 among the range of webinars on topics from how to attract new customers, to managing your online reputation.
