Terror as Aqua Fun Park attraction ‘blows up’

A SUNSHINE Coast grandmother watched on in terror when an inflatable attraction "blew up", sending up to 70 people into the water.

Joanne, who did not wish to give her surname, was at Aqua Fun Park in Coolum yesterday with her three grandchildren aged five, 11 and 13 when part of the obstacle collapsed.

"The biggest piece of equipment just blew up," she told the Daily.

"It's all inflatable. It fell down and collapsed on 70 kids.

"It was terrible, shocking."

Joanne said the people on the attraction were aged between five and 50 and everyone was out of the water and accounted for.

"It's a big thing that blew up and fell down," she said.

"Everyone was screaming and not knowing where their children were."

The Aqua Fun Park did not respond to the Daily's phone inquiry.
