A gruelling run for Women’s health and well-being

CHEMIST Warehouse Burleigh Water’s retail manager Louise Jericevich is taking giant strides in her support of Liptember.

Liptember is run across the month of September and is aimed at creating awareness about Women’s health issues and to raise funding for national research and support programs.

As part of her support, Mrs Jericevich will run 15km between Chemist Warehouse’s Coolangatta and Burleigh Waters stores this Friday morning at 7.00am and is hoping to raise $1500.00.

Mrs Jericevich said the run was designed to raise the funds to contribute to providing Women with access to 24 hour a day support and services.

She said there was a gap in services currently, which may be preventing Women from seeking and gaining assistance in a time of need.

“Currently Lifeline isn’t open 24 hours and we’ve been raising money everyday to try and get them open 24 hours a day, that’s the aim,” Mrs Jericevich said.

“We’re aiming to keep them cashed up to have them open 24 hours so there’s a phone you can pick up and talk to someone who can tell you how to stay safe and get you through until you can get further help.

“I think it’s highly important as with everything going on, specifically on the Coast, we need to get lifeline open (24 hours).”

Mrs Jericevich, 45, has never run 15 kilometres before but was determined and had been running seven kilometres in training, to prepare for the gruelling run.

She said the whole point of the distance was to be challenged physically and mentally and was hoping everyone would get behind it to show their support.

Women are encouraged to get into their local Chemist Warehouse, My Chemist or My beauty Spot to buy official Liptember lipstick to get the conversation started and encourage friends and family to get involved.

A range of bright coloured lipsticks are available and organisers say it’s a quirky and effective way to bring public attention the significant issue of Women’s mental health.
