A sample of heaven for foodies at festival
THE sixth annual Sample Food Festival kicks off in Bangalow on Saturday, with last year's winner the Kingscliff Hotel among the top restaurants offering a feast of culinary delights.
The one-day event, held at Bangalow Showgroundfrom 8am-4pm, is the premier food, produce and artisan festival for the Northern Rivers, attracting more than 15,000 visitors from across the country.
The day features $5 and $10 tasting plates put together by local restaurants, including 2015 tasting plate winners the Kingscliff Hotel.
Kingscliff Hotel is offering a $5 bourbon brisket slider - smoked and slow roasted brisket slider, herb slaw, balsamic onion, bourbon glaze - and a $10 lobster bisque mac and three cheeses - garlic, chilli, bbq king prawn - for festival-goers.
There are celebrity cooking demonstrations and guest chefs including Ben O'Donoghue, Spencer Patrick, Dan and Steph, and Clayton Donovan.
Sample is a family friendly event and offers children's activities as well as a line-up of musicians rounding up a full day for visitors.
Sample also features an Instameet, where visitors can connect with local and guest chefs and take away a macadamia goodie bag.
The Instameet includes an Instagram competition offering a macadamia gift hamper for the best macadamia-inspired photo from Sample Food Festival, which is shared using the hashtag #AusMacadamias.
