Abba Babba do – Tribute band headed for Twin Towns
TAKE a trip back to the 70s this month when BABBA come to perform at Twin Towns Services Club.
The well known ABBA cover band have shined their platforms, ironed their flares and practiced their Swedish accents for a monumental18 years.
Benny impersonator Michael Ingvarson said the group were keen to head up north and visit Twin Towns again.
"We're all looking froward to the show," he said.
"We love coming up to the nice weather."
Ingvarson said the show would get people up and dancing.
"It appeals to a lot of different ages," he said.
"Everyone gets right into it too.
"It's gonna be a night of fun, great singing and playing."
The resurrection of Mamma Mia the musical and movie have captured the younger generations Ingvarson said.
When the group formed at the Royal Derby Hotel in Melbourne 18 years ago they never expected it would get this big or last this long.
Ingvarson even met his now wife, Gabriella, through the show.
"It was Frida and Benny all over again," he said.
"We've even got three kids together."
Originally the group formed for a fun ABBA night at the hotel but it soon spiralled into something much bigger.
"What makes us different is we managed to convince good musicians to be a part of the show," he said.
"It was fun and gradually we got a good name for ourselves," Ingvarson said.
