Abood secures Olympic bronze on debut
TWEED swimmer Matt Abood has helped propel Australia's 4x100m freestyle relay team to a bronze medal in the 4x100m mens freestyle final in Rio on Monday.
Anchoring the men's side on Monday morning, Abood brought the side home in a time of (3:12.65), second behind an eventual gold medal winning USA team (3:12.38) and Russia (3:12.04), to qualify third overall for the final.

Abood, Australia's oldest ever Olympic debutante at age 30, was replaced in Monday's final by returning former world number one James Magnussen, who swam the third leg before current number one, Gold Coaster Cameron McEvoy, brought the team home for the bronze behind USA and France (silver).
Although replaced for the final, Abood still claimed a bronze medal for his heat swim.
The final team - led out by Tweed Heads born James Roberts - stormed home to turn the tables on Russia, which was relegated to fourth in Monday's final.
Abood has the chance of securing an individual medal, when he takes to the pool in heat 10 of the men's 50 metre freestyle on Friday.
