Aircraft noise fight takes off

THE Fingal Head Community Association has ramped up its fight against aircraft noise with a website aimed at bringing more attention to the issue.

President Dawn Walker is firm in her stance that the approval of the Gold Coast Airport Master Plan by transport and infrastructure minister Anthony Albanese will not stop legal action by residents.

Under the plan airport noise could triple, leading the association to explore the viability of legal action against Airservices Australia through the Environmental Defenders Office.

On Friday the association launched a short film and website to fuel the campaign.

"We're hoping the website will help us connect with other people suffering from airport noise," Ms Walker said.

"People have been contacting me with their stories so I know it's not just us having issues.

"I want the Tweed community to tell their story, find their voice."

Association members are concerned increased flights over Fingal will damage the fragile environment and ruin quality of life for residents.
