LEWIS Carroll's timeless children's novel Alice in Wonderland is set to be brought into the 21st century with the upcoming release of Alice in Wonderland the movie.

Directed by Tim Burton and staring Johnny Depp, the film promises to bring the classic tale of Alice's adventure down the rabbit hole to life in a never-before seen way.

The film will use a technique combining live action, motion capture technology, and stop motion.

"It's kind of a mixture of some distorted live action and animation. I can't relate it to anything because I'm not sure what to relate it to. It's kind of new territory for me", said Mr Burton.

Alice in Wonderland is set for release in Australia on March 11, 2010.
