THE atmosphere is fast building here at Suncorp Stadium, also known as "The Cauldron" and formerly Lang Park - the greatest and most intimidating rugby league stadium in the world.

Retiring Maroons lock Corey Parker was just honoured on the big screens - the same big screens that spooked out the Blues with highlights of Queensland's dominant era during their captain's run yesterday.

The stadium then descended into darkness with fireworks and highlights from Game I projected onto a giant football in the middle of the hallowed Suncorp turf.

What an intimidating atmosphere for the Blues … the crowd is set to go mad for their beloved retiring hero Parker.

"The King" Wally Lewis then stepped out to serenade the crowd, telling his adoring fans "when I was young I used to dream of playing at Lang Park".

Get set for another memorable Origin battle.
