Andrew Robb reportedly slips that federal election looms

FEDERAL Coalition MP Andrew Robb has let slip that the federal election will be called sooner than expected, AAP reports

Mr Robb told ABC News Radio "We've got just a few months before the very important election."

He was speaking about the coalition's return to strength in the polls but had missed Malcolm Turnbull's first cabinet meeting. 

Mr Robb has stated he voted for Mr Abbott in the Coalition leadership ballott.
