Anger at demolition of old Cooly skate bowl
THE skate bowl at Jarvis Lane, Coolangatta, has been demolished leaving residents and skaters in disbelief.
"It is a complete waste of tax payers dollars," skater Gi Gi Law said, "yesterday kids were enjoying it and today it's gone."
"The council should of just put a snake path between the two parks," Skater Darren McKeown said.
"The usual rivalry seen at skate parks is not present here and sadly the demolished bowl was way more advanced, it is a little bit devastating."
"All they should of done is pulled the wall down and put a security camera up and placed a curfew on the bowl," he said.
Gold Coast City Council's Chris Robbins was not contacted by anyone in regards to the demolition of the old skate park.
"I haven't received one phone call to save the old skate park," Cr Robbins said.
"The old park did not meet current standards."
"That is why we built the new skate park and the advanced bowl is only at Tugun and it is not far away."
