Anglo executive moves to BHP

BHP Billiton's Queensland coal-mining arm has picked up one a top-ranked executive from competitor Anglo American's Brisbane office.

In documents delivered to the corporate regulator, Anglo American's Metallurgical Coal announced that its chief financial officer Gerhard Ziems would be replaced by Adriaan Esterhuizen who founded South African venture capital firm Business Model Design Company.

Mr Esterhuizen has already taken on the acting CFO role for Anglo.

Both Anglo American and BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance have confirmed the change, although further comment is being sought from each.

Mr Ziems short biography and photograph have also been quietly removed from Anglo American's Australian website.

Before joining Anglo in 2011, Mr Ziems held CFO roles in Downer EDi Mining, Leighton Contracting's divisions in the middle east
