Mundine prepares for knockout fight
ANTHONY Mundine says he doesn't have to knock out Bronco McKart in his first fight on American soil to guarantee bigger US bouts, but admits it would be helpful.
Mundine, who will take on McKart at The Palms in Las Vegas on July 14, left Sydney yesterday for step one in a five-fight plan to secure a bout with Floyd Mayweather.
At 37, the three-time world champion knows he is unlikely to get many more opportunities and is determined to make a big impression. ''I can't wait for it, I am counting down the days,'' Mundine said.
''I haven't had a fight for nine months and this is the reason, so now I have got the opportunity I am not going to waste it.
''I have been training hard, I have been doing a lot of strength work and a lot of core work to get my strength back because I want to get those one-punch knockouts like I used to. I want to look spectacular.''
