$10,000 support for men's shed

THE Tweed Shire Mobile Men's Shed had a windfall yesterday with a $10,000 donation from the Community Development Support Expenditure Scheme.

The funds come from local clubs, including Twin Towns Services Club, Seagulls Club and Tweed Heads and Coolangatta Golf Club poker machine tax.

The Men's Shed held a rally yesterday to drum up community support.

Tweed Family Centre manager David Boutkan said the cash donation would keep the service going until at least the end of June.

Mr Boutkan said Justine Elliot (Tweed MP) had agreed to help the service by taking a petition to parliament in May, however if funding submissions were unsuccessful the Men's Shed outreach service would close.
