$100,000 lottery winner at large

THE search is on for a mystery Tweed Heads lottery ticket buyer who is $100,000 richer and doesn't know it.

Tweed City News sold the first-prize ticket in the $2 Jackpot Lottery Draw No. 8291 drawn yesterday morning. The winner's ticket is unregistered, which means NSW Lotteries is unable to contact the winner to inform him or her of the windfall.

The winning ticket is number 92221.

Staff at the newsagency were yesterday waiting hopefully for the winner to turn up.

"This is the best news I've heard," said Tweed City News employee Rebecca Baeb.

NSW Lotteries said that by using the Players Club registration system, costing $3.30 a year, lottery players can be contacted with news of any major wins. The jackpot in the $2 lottery now stands at $6.2 million for Draw No. 8292.
